Alaska Department Of Labor And Workforce Development Issues Call For Seafood Workers

The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development is placing a call for Pollock A season and crab/Pacific cod seasonal workers to apply now. The seafood industry in Alaska has 250 to 300 immediate openings for Pollock A, snow crab, and gray cod processors primarily in the Dutch Harbor, St. Paul Island areas. These processing jobs begin mid-January and last through late March to early April.
Hundreds of career-minded seafood processing workers look forward to these seasonal mid-winter fisheries which traditionally offer more steady work for seafood processing workers. In many cases, room, board, and round trip transportation are provided upon completion of the contract; a great way to save money. Jobs are located both on land and on floating processors tied up in Dutch Harbor and St. Paul Island.
Jobs processing pollock and Pacific cod will also be needed in Kodiak and Seward starting in mid-January through March. Transportation, room and board benefits will vary in these locales.

The Anchorage Job Center, located at 3301 Eagle Street, is organizing the recruitment and movement of workers for the majority of the available seafood processing jobs, now mostly in the Dutch Harbor and Bering Sea areas. Seafood orientations are at 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday except Alaska state holidays. Interested workers should go in directly to the Anchorage Seafood Unit in room 100 or call the Anchorage Seafood Hotline at (907)269-4770, extension seven (7), for updated seafood orientation schedules.
