A small, private employer with 30 employees, Spruce Park Auto Body received the award at the company site on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002. The collision repair company joins the City of Kenai Wastewater Treatment Plant, Kenai's S& R Enterprises, Noah's Ark Inc. in Fairbanks, and the Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau in achieving this recognition.

"Everyone here worked diligently and hard to achieve this recognition. It was a community effort, and we're all really excited," said company president Charles Perrault (pictured above, second from left, with Ken Perrault, Ross Bailey, Jerry Barlow and Cory Walker) . "It's great to be recognized as a safe place to work."

SHARP recognizes and promotes effective safety and health management through establishing a cooperative relationship with management, labor, and Alaska Occupational Safety and Health at workplace that has implemented a strong safety and health program. Participation in the program is voluntary and does not exempt the worksite from OSH enforcement activities in case of employee complaints and accident investigations; however, the worksite is removed from general scheduled inspections for one year.
