Census and Geographic Information Network

The Census and Geographic Information Network (CGIN) is a cooperative effort between the U.S. Census Bureau and the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development to provide access to census and other federal program data.

The CGIN was established in 1981 with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Research and Analysis Section as the lead agency. The CGIN includes a network of state and local government agencies that assist local users seeking statistical information. You are welcome to contact any of the offices for data in specific areas of the state.

Census information is available in a variety of formats. 2000 Census data is available via the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Factfinder Web site, CD-ROM, and in print. The 1990 Census data is available in printed form, PDFs, CD-ROM, and selected data tables online. Selected cenus data from 1880 to 1980 are available in PDFs. If you don't find what you need, please contact our office for assistance.

The CGIN maintains a reference library of printed census publications, CD-ROMs, and maps available to the public. You are welcome to visit our office and view the historic and current census collections.
