License/Exam Fees:

One Year License $100
Biennial renewal $100 - Renews October 1st

NOTE: The State of Alaska will begin licensing Massage Therapists effective July 1, 2015. Additional information on license application forms, fees, and regulatory information are available on the Board of Massage Therapists Web site.

Licensing Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with official identification
  • Graduate of a post-secondary education school of massage therapy which requires the successful completion of at least 500 hours of supervised instruction and which is approved by any state (Supply diploma or certificate of graduation with transcripts or
    holds current certification as a massage therapist from a national certification board or a national certification program meeting standards similar to those for persons license under AS 8.84 as a physical therapist (supply copy of certificate).
  • State of Alaska business license
  • Completed background check by the State of Alaska Department of Public Safety located at 5700 E Tudor Rd, 2nd Floor, Anchorage. Public Safety requires two Forms of ID. Payment for the background check is by cash or check only. For more information about the background check, contact the Department of Public Safety at (907) 269-5511. The background check must be faxed directly to the Clerk's Office from The Department of Public Safety.
