How to respond to an appeal

If a party from an Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board (Board) proceeding filed an appeal of a final decision and order of the Board that ruled in your favor, and you do not have an attorney to represent you, the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Appeals Commission (Commission) has a packet of instructions and forms to assist you.

The packet title is:

Instructions for Self-Represented Litigants ̶ Appellee Packet
How to respond to an appeal to the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Appeals Commission when an opposing party appeals an Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board final decision and order that is in your favor.

To obtain the instruction packet online, please click here to retrieve and print it. The instruction packet also contains instructions for filing a cross-appeal. You do not have to file a cross-appeal. Please see the instruction packet for more information regarding cross-appeals.

Hard copies of the instruction packets are also available at the Commission office in Anchorage, and at the Board offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau.

Please call the Commission at 907-269-6738 or e-mail the Commission clerk at awcac.clerk@alaska.gov to ask that a packet be mailed to you. Give your name and complete mailing address. Be sure to say that you want to respond to an appeal filed with the Commission by another party against you and that you want the “How to respond to an appeal” packet.
