Summer Work Programs 2023

The Arc of Anchorage's Student Summer Work Program is a 4-week program designed to create opportunities for students with an IEP, 504 plan or a student who is potentially eligible for DVR services between the ages of 14 -21 to gain valuable work experience and training towards developing a pathway to a career of their choosing.

Two program session dates - June 1, 2023, through June 28, 2023, & July 1, 2023, through July 28, 2023.

Arctic Access Inc. (Nome and Norton Sound area) School to Work Program. Are you looking to fill your summer with a great job experience and cash in your pocket? Begins May 15th and Ends August 15th, SUMMER of 2023.

Must be in High School and experience a disability (IEP, 504, a physical and/or a learning disability).

Cordova School District Summer Work Program begins May 25th and runs through June 30, 2023. Our goal again this year is to match students in a work setting that is right for them and teach good soft and hard skills during the 6-week program. We will support students ages 14-21 who are either on an IEP or 504 plan or have a barrier to employment.

Family Centered Services of Alaska Summer Work Program (Fairbanks) focuses on youth ages 16-18 who attend either our YESS school year program or youth enrolled in our Adolescent Co-Occurring Treatment Program (ACT). Our program will run from May 29th through the end of July. Students will participate in 145 hours of paid work experience and instruction in budgeting, money management, resume writing, and general job-seeking skills.

Island Trails Network (Kodiak) Trail Crew Summer Work Experience. This experience will give students the opportunity to experience doing manual labor in an outdoor and remote setting. This is hard work in the outdoors and our site locations will change throughout the summer. The upside, students get fit and strong, have fun outside, and make our community better!

KPBSD Summer Work Program provides students with a supportive work environment geared towards individual participants interests, career intentions, and availability in their local community. We are currently offering programs in Seward, Homer, and the Central Peninsula. Participants will receive on and off-the-job training in needed financial and work-related skills of an employed individual. Who can apply: A student with a disability aged 16-21 years old who has an IEP, 504 plan, or who may be potentially eligible for DVR services. Program Dates: 5/30/2023 6/29/2023

LKSD Summer Work Program trains students, ages 14-21, to enter the workforce as valuable employees, equipped with the skills necessary to attain and maintain employment. Our goal is to increase our student's ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them. This program has two components: 145 hours of direct work experience at one of the 12 local businesses and 15 hours of career coaching and soft skills training.

Who can apply: Any LKSD student ages 1 4-21 with a disability, IEP, 504 plan, or any youth who could potentially be at risk and qualify for services.

Nine Star Mat Su Summer Youth Program will provide school age youth the opportunity to explore careers, develop resumes and interview skills, understand workplace dynamics, and enter into a work experience. Programming begins on 5/24 and will conclude no later than July 31.

Participants will be entered into a paid work experience to develop job skills and a more holistic understanding of what it means to be employed.

Prince of Wales Summer Work Program will provide youth ages 14-21 with the opportunity to gain paid summer work experience within their communities on Prince of Wales Island. This program has two components: 145 hours of direct paid work experience at local businesses and 15 hours of career coaching and soft-skills training. This 6-week program will begin on June 15 and end on July 30 with a culminating instructional and celebration event for the youths and employers.

SAIL Haines Summer Work Program provides a 6-week paid employment experience for students ages 14-21 who are enrolled in school and experience a disability. Our goal is to place a student in their field of interest. Program Dates: June 12th-July 22nd, 25 hours/week .

Students who have an IEP or 504 plan are encouraged to apply, but not required. Students who experience trauma, social anxiety, learning difficulties, ADHD, and emotional irregularities are also encouraged to apply.

SAIL Ketchikan Summer Work Program - Our goal is to have a medium-sized work crew, about 6-8 students, working on projects in partnership with the Ketchikan Borough, and to place a student or two in individual work placements around the Ketchikan community. The Ketchikan program will run for 6-weeks, starting on June 16th, 2023, and ending on Friday, July, 2023. School-aged youth, ages 14-21, experiencing some sort of disability, or on school lEPs or 504 plans are encouraged to apply.

SAIL Sitka Summer Work Program Students are provided with a supportive work environment and focus on both soft and hard job skills. When teens are not working in parks and on trails throughout Sitka, they will be developing team skills and discovering their own strengths and interests for future educational and career aspirations. June 12th July 28th.

SAIL Youth Employment in the Parks (Juneau) - Teens work on trails and parks throughout Juneau for full days Monday through Thursday. Teens will also work a half day on Fridays and focus on building team skills and discovering future career and educational goals. Program Dates: June 5th, 2023 - July 28th, 2023.

Who Can Apply: A student with a disability aged 16-21 years old who has an IEP, 504 Plan, and/or is potentially eligible for DVR services and is currently enrolled in school.

Youth Advocates of Sitka Summer Work Program provides community-based work experience for youth ages 14 to 21 from June 12th July 30th. Youth will be placed in a business /employer related to their career or experience interests. Education will include resume overview and writing, interview skills, teamwork, and communication skills.
