Labor Department Releases New Race/Ethnic Census 2000 Demographic Data

Jan. 22, 2002
No. 02-04

The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development released detailed race/ethnic data from Census 2000 today. Like the previously released Summary File 1 (SF1), Summary File 2 (SF2) includes age, sex, household, relationship, and household type. The data for occupied housing units include tenure (whether the unit is owner or renter occupied), household size, and age of householder. SF2 includes additional detailed race/ethnic information for 33 identified race and ethnic categories.

State data are available at the borough/census area, place, census tract, and Alaska Native Village Statistical Area levels. No tables are available for geographic areas having a population of less than 100. Tables are available only for the race groups, American Indian and Alaska Native tribes, and Hispanic or Latino groups having a population of 100 or more within the geographic area.

Selected tables from SF2 are available online at the Census and Geographic Information Network's 2000 Census Web site.
