News Release

LABOR RESEARCH UNIT UPGRADES ITS WEB SITE

The Research and Analysis Section in the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development has upgraded its web site to make it more user-friendly. Now at a single point of entry are found data browsing tools, career resources, and data downloading capabilities, thanks to a new integrated web-based application. In addition to economic information, the system provides access to Alaska's Job Center Network to provide a wide range of labor market information and services.

In addition to all of the features in the old web site, new menu buttons are provided which allow for user friendly access to data making it easy for self-help users.

The site presents labor market information to serve a variety of customers. Job seekers, employers, career counselors, and researchers can use the application to meet their individual needs. For instance, job seekers can use the application to understand the job market, identify potential employers needing their skills, and conduct an effective, self-directed job search.

The State of Alaska is the first of a consortium of twenty-two state workforce agencies to deploy this new web based labor market information delivery system. The system is now complete and each state will be deploying their version of the application over the next few months.

Alaska's labor market information web site can be found at http://almis.labor.state.ak.us
