JUNEAU, Alaska — On Sept. 30, 2020, Alaska Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH) recognized Dawson Construction, of Juneau, for its acceptance into the Construction Health & Safety Excellence Program (CHASE) at the Gold level.

“My team and I place a very high value on collaboration,” said Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter, Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. “It is rewarding to see the results of this work and the positive partnerships that have resulted in safer working conditions for Alaskans.”

CHASE is a partnership program between licensed Alaska contractors and AKOSH to take a proactive approach to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities within the construction industry. The partnership is tailored exclusively for the construction industry in Alaska and produces immediate positive effects within the safety and health program.

AKOSH’S Consultation and Training has been working with Dawson Construction for well over a decade, and Dawson continues to show its commitment to employee safety and health by consistent collaboration with AKOSH. Dawson's primary effort of maintaining a safe work environment is excellent. Each site is carefully planned and regulated by managers and site supervisors to ensure that employees follow proper procedures and observe common safety practices.

Representatives of DOLWD formally presented a Certificate of Recognition, as well as an achievement banner for display to five members of the Dawson Construction team, led by Dawson Construction Juneau Division Director Chris Gilberto.
