No. 21-10
JUNEAU, Alaska — A multi-agency effort is underway to improve current policies and practices designed to enhance recruitment, hiring and advancement of individuals with disabilities.
"The Workforce Matters Task Force will focus on strategies to make the State of Alaska a model employer and will facilitate employment opportunities in the private sector," said Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter.
The group will also focus on work-based learning opportunities, particularly for youth with disabilities, and policies that encourage entrepreneurship and disability-owned businesses.
"Exposing Alaskan students with disabilities to community based work experiences is the right thing to do," said Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Director Duane Mayes.
