JUNEAU, Alaska — Colonel Kirsten Aguilar and Labor Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter will open the Alaska Veterans & Military Spouses Job Fair on at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at the Midtown Mall in Anchorage. Col. Aguilar is the Commander of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) and the 673d Air Base Wing. The opening ceremony will also feature Dorothy Hight, who will sing the national anthem.

Approximately 80 employers, education, training and apprenticeship providers will participate in this annual hiring event.

"More than one in 10 Alaskans is a veteran - the greatest per capita population of veterans in the nation," said DOLWD Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter. "Helping Alaskans find gainful employment has never been more important. Today’s veterans offer Alaska businesses some of the most highly-desired skill sets including dependability, accelerated learning curve, follow-through, teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility."

This job fair is one of the largest in Alaska and every year many employers use this event to discover valuable military talent that proves highly beneficial and profitable. This event connects veterans, military spouses, and Alaska residents with employment and occupational training opportunities. This includes federal, state and municipal employers along with representatives from the construction, healthcare, oil and gas, financial, and transportation industries.

The job fair will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Midtown Mall, 600 Northern Lights Blvd. The event is open to the public, and there is no fee to attend. Job seekers are encouraged to dress for potential interviews and bring copies of resumes and business cards.
