Alaska's Extended Benefits Period To End On Dec. 11, 2021

Nov. 22, 2021
No. 21-34

JUNEAU, Alaska — Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter announced today that Alaska’s Extended Benefits (EB) payable period, which triggered on May 3, 2020, will end with the last payable week of Dec. 11, 2021. Alaska’s seasonally adjusted Total Unemployment Rate (TUR) no longer meets the U.S. Department of Labor’s requirement of being an average of 6.5% for the most recently reported three-month period.

The Division of Employment and Training Services, which administers the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program, will notify impacted unemployed workers by mail.

Individuals with remaining balances of EB may continue to file until their benefits are exhausted or the end date of Dec. 11, 2021, whichever comes first. Unemployed workers who have exhausted their regular benefits may file a new claim for EB through the week ending Dec. 11, 2021.

Individuals who may have questions regarding their eligibility should contact their nearest UI Claim Center listed below:
