Online registration open for National Apprenticeship Week 2022
Oct. 26, 2022
JUNEAU, Alaska — Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development is providing online registration for National Apprenticeship Week 2022 — "Think Apprenticeship! Bridging the Workforce Gap" — to be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at the Loussac Library in Anchorage. A virtual option will also be available. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The event is geared to businesses, trade groups, policy makers, nonprofit leaders, educators and other groups interested in increasing workforce participation using apprenticeship. The conference will provide information about this national training system that can increase productivity and improve the quality of the workforce by combining paid learning-on-the-job and related technical instruction in a skilled occupation.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Edward L. Walden Sr. Ph.D. (Ed), director of Professional Advancement, leading the implementation and execution of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s professional advancement programs and development. Dr. Walden will speak about how apprenticeship can help businesses find and retain employees and how organizations can help grow the workforce using apprenticeship.
General event registration and nomination forms for the department’s Apprenticeship Awards, which will be presented at the event, are available at https://labor.alaska.gov/NAW. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. Nov. 4, 2022. Both self-nominations and nominations of others are welcome. Nominations from all industries, backgrounds, and areas of the state are encouraged.
