Department hosts annual Governor's Safety and Health Conference

ANCHORAGE — The Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) invites members of the media to attend the 43rd annual Governor's Safety and Health Conference, a premier event focused on advancing safety, health and innovation in Alaska’s communities and workplaces.

This year's theme "Leadership, Excellence, and Innovation" will highlight cutting-edge developments in safety practices and explore the critical role of leadership in driving change across the state. DOLWD Commissioner Catherine Muñoz will give welcoming remarks on Tuesday.

The conference will feature over 55 exhibitors and 30 expert presenters covering key topics such as:

  • Community Safety and Health
  • Leadership and Communication
  • Technical Safety and Innovation
  • Regulations and Policies

A major highlight of this year's conference is the inaugural award presentation for a statewide high school safety video competition. The winner, Hutchison High School in Fairbanks, will be honored on Wednesday, April 8, 2025, with a $2,500 award, sponsored by the State of Alaska, Hilcorp and Enstar. The award ceremony starts at 12:30 p.m.
