Get an Advantage When Bidding with the State of Alaska
If your business qualifies to submit bids to the State of Alaska per AS 36.30.990 (2) it might also qualify for a "bidders preference" if it also either:
- Provides employment services to Alaskans with disabilities or
- Is owned and operated wholly by people with disabilities.
Apply for a Bidders Preference
- Read through the Procurement Preference Guidelines to determine which category you might qualify for. There are two types of certifications: Employment Program Preference and Alaskans with Disabilities Preference.
- Complete the application form. It is included in the guidelines.
- Gather the required documents, as indicated in the guidelines.
- Submit the application and the required documents to DVR by following the instructions in the guidelines.

Employers are becoming increasingly aware of the value of hiring adults with disabilities, including job candidates with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism Speaks provides general information about autism as a service to the community, and resources that can help employers determine the right jobs for individuals with ASD.
