Mechanical Inspection Section - Boiler Operator, Hazardous Paint, Explosive Handler, & Asbestos Abatement Licenses

Licenses for each of these categories are processed by application at Mechanical Inspection office in Anchorage. For specific information about obtaining or renewing a Boiler Operators, Hazardous Paint, Asbestos Abatement, Explosive Handler license, please refer to the Forms and Publications page for the appropriate application.

Boiler Operator certificates are not required in Alaska but issued for workers where the company requires a certificate for compliance.

Hazardous Paint, Asbestos Abatement, and Explosive Handlers certificates are issued by Mechanical Inspection for programs administered by Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH). AKOSH is responsible for approving all related courses and performing all field inspections and enforcement of these programs.
